The Canadian Tree of Life

This sculpture, on the arch near our font, represents a branch on the Canadian Tree of Life.

There are nine leaves of red and gold.
They are made of (liquid) plaster, that is brushed onto an original and once living leaf, which leaves its perfect imprint behind.

Children from St. John's painted these on Sunday preceding Canada Day 2004.

Graham Smith, our parish Artist-in-Residence explains the sculpture:

Ever since I read these words from the Book of Revelations, 22,
I have felt convinced this is current:
"..and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations".
