What is Terrific Tuesday?
It is an occasion for sharing a simple meal;
or celebrating the Eucharist;
or participating in a group involved in intercessory prayer, meditation, healing prayer
or sacred dance or movement.
It is an occasion for taking part in one or all of the above!
When is it?
Every Tuesday, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Where is it?
In the Northcote Burke Room and the Chapel
Who goes to it?
Everybody is welcome. Our fellowship includes people from other parishes and other denominations, as well as those who are seeking God.
What is an Agape meal?
In the early church when Christians gathered to celebrate 'agape' (literally a 'love feast'), the communion liturgy and meal were woven together. Terrific Tuesdays imitate that model, usually twice a month. These agape meals are indicated in the schedule on the back of this brochure.
What is healing prayer?
On the first Tuesday of each month, a special liturgy of healing takes place in the chapel. During this service, you may, if you wish, be prayed for individually and be anointed.
What kind of meditation?
Joyce Rupp in her book The Cup of our Love explores how a cup, an ordinary everyday cup, becomes a rich symbol of life, with its emptiness and fullness, its brokenness and flaws, and all of its blessings. This book will be our guide for a tine of meditation on the third Tuesdays of each month, 7 to 8 pm in the chapel. Please bring a favorite cup or mug.
What is sacred dance?
Sacred dance or movement is a wonderful reminder of the moving spirit within us. Moving to words of scripture can intensify their meaning. Moving to pray can say what words cannot say. Patricia Bowen will facilitate a time of movement or sacred dance on the fifth Tuesday, 7 to 8p.m. in the chapel, in addition to Sundays (second and fourth), 9 to 10 a.m. in the Northcote Burke Room.
